OUR TOP 3 FAVOURITE OMEGA WATCHES
Even before becoming the watch buyer for John Pass, Steve Treweeks
has always had a passion for Omega watches. Below Steve picks three of his all-time top 3 Omega watches.
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M
Models from Omega’s iconic Seamaster collection, with their diver-ready aesthetics and bold yet
practical rotating bezels, are quite frankly some of the most handsome iterations from the Swiss
brand’s catalogue – none more so than those from the Diver 300M line.
The water-friendly and ready-for-action Omega Seamaster Diver 300M ref O22.214.171.124.04.001 is
one of my favourites and for good reason. Not only is it suitable for professional and recreational
diving thanks to a helium escape valve and impressive 300-meter water resistance, but it’s also
perfect for sailing, surfing, snorkelling, or kayaking courtesy of a rugged stainless steel casing.
The fact that the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M watch is presented on a rugged stainless steel
bracelet makes it perfect for pairing with smart attire too, plus its 55-hour power reserve is perfect
for delivering uncompromised accuracy, even on those occasions when you wish to alternate it with
another Omega favourite.
Omega Apollo 8 ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ Speedmaster
Just like the Seamaster range, there’s a vast array of different models to choose from within
Omega’s Speedmaster collection, but one of my favourites must be the Omega Apollo 8 ‘Dark Side of
the Moon’ Speedmaster ref O3126.96.36.199.01.001.
If there’s one watch you associate with Omega, it’s the Speedmaster. It went down in history as
being the first watch to accompany mankind to the moon for the first ever time in 1969. There’s just
something extra special about the Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” Speedmaster, however.
Instantly recognisable by its zesty yellow accents placed against a stealthy black backdrop,
chronograph lovers go wild for it and it’s not hard to see why. The solid ceramic case and
skeletonised dial are just stunning.
A highlight for me is the watch’s beautifully engraved caseback bearing the words; “APOLLO 8, DEC
1968”, “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON”, and astronaut Jim Lovell’s historic words “WE’LL SEE YOU ON
THE OTHER SIDE”. It instantly reminds you of the history behind the watch.
Omega De Ville Trésor in Red, model O4188.8.131.52.04.002
The third and final Omega watch to make my favourites list is a lady’s watch from the brand’s dress
range. The simplicity of this quartz-powered Omega De Ville Trésor in Red, model
O4184.108.40.206.04.002 makes it a universally appealing timepiece for wearing to any occasion.
Loved by so many, you can see why all the finest elements of the De Ville watch are so desired
amongst women who enjoy the finer things in life. Everything about this model communicates
finesse and elegance – the clean lines, the flow of the diamonds around the case, the crisp open
face. It demonstrates perfectly that the beauty of a watch is not solely down to the sophistication of
its movement alone.
I hope you’ve enjoyed delving into the finer details of my top three favourite Omega watches. All
three timepieces can be found on our website along with all the details you’ll need to know before
securing one for your own collection!
